Busting Those Tattoo Myths!
Color tattoos hurt more than black and gray-
Hate to break it to you but all tattoos hurt! But here are a few reasons why people might think they hurt more:
Color tattoos generally require multiple layers of ink to get the desired brightness and color saturation, which means more passes over the same area. Black and gray tattoos don’t usually need as many layers which also leads to a quicker tattoo
Getting a tattoo drunk hurts less-
First this is illegal in most states (yup including Nevada!) And you might think you are feeling fine at first but alcohol can actually increase pain sensitivity making the tattoo process feel more intense. Alcohol <and some painkillers> thins out your blood, which causes more bleeding while getting tattooed, which is not good for your tattoo and how it heals. Alcohol also dehydrates you, which can make tattoos more painful. So skip that alcohol before getting tattooed and drink an extra glass of H2O!
Tattoo artists are mean-
If you have ever been in Studio 21 Tattoo you will know that this is absolutely not true! Back in the day, the stereotype that tattoo artists were intimidating and rude was kinda true. Back then tattoo artists and clients were a little rough around the edges. But now that tattoos are more mainstream, artists and clients alike are just everyday people. And being kind to the client is extremely important. So if you ever walk into a shop that you don’t feel that “welcoming” feeling, give us a call and we will show you how much we appreciate you!
